The French-American Foundation, in partnership with the French Joint Chiefs of Staff (Etat-Major des Armées), will host the 12th French-American Defense Symposium at McKenna, Long & Aldridge LLP in Washington, D.C. Building upon talks began in April 2012, the 2013 Symposium will focus on Cyber Security. Since its inception in 1996, the French-American Defense Symposium has become a major bilateral forum where senior military leaders and civilian officials meet informally to exchange views on key defense issues.

Philippe Camus, Chairman of the Board for Alcatel-Lucent since 2008 and Chief Executive Officer of EADS from 2000-2005, and William Schneider, Jr., who has served as Under Secretary of State and Chairman of the Defense Science Board, joined the Foundation to discuss French-American military cooperation. The discussion, moderated by Fred Marcusa, Partner at Kaye Scholer LLP, explored the evolution of military relations between these two allies over the past years and looked at how the 2012 presidential elections in both nations promised to shape future cooperation.
