Migration, Media and Equal Opportunity

Our multi-year policy programs on the themes of migration, media and equal opportunity provide an in-depth, comparative perspective on issues of common concern for France and the United States. We explore these issues through conferences, speaker events, publications, professional exchanges, study tours and, most recently, through an innovative fellowship and awards program.
As part of its Media Coverage of Immigration program, the French-American Foundation organized two symposia in 2009 and 2010 to examine the media’s coverage of immigration and to determine ways to improve its quality and depth. Today, we are pursuing our work on this topic with the Immigration Journalism Fellowship and Award.
Launched in 2006, the Equality of Opportunity program has focused on French and American strategies to fight discrimination and promote greater opportunities for minority and immigrant populations. This has recently led to the creation of an online media library housing publications, videos and other resources devoted to the theme of equal opportunity.
